Cricket Frog Trail extension breaks ground
The City of Covington and Newton County jointly broke ground this week on the long-awaited extension of the Cricket Frog Trail. The new segment, funded by a combination of SPLOST proceeds and a Georgia DOT Transportation Alternatives grant, will provide a fully separated bike-and-pedestrian connection from the Square to the campus of Georgia Piedmont Technical College.

Spring concert series returns to the Square May 3
Bring your lawn chairs! The 2026 spring concert series returns Friday May 3, May 17, and May 31. All concerts run 7:00 – 9:30 PM on the Square. Food trucks will be on-site.

Mayor Henderson announces FY 26-27 budget priorities

Boil-water advisory lifted for Heritage Place
The City of Covington Water Department has lifted the precautionary boil-water advisory issued April 7 for the Heritage Place neighborhood. Two consecutive days of bacteriological sampling have confirmed water quality meets all state and federal standards.

Open Records Request portal launches
Effective immediately, residents and media can submit Open Records Act requests through the City's new online portal. The portal provides automatic acknowledgment within 3 business days as required by O.C.G.A. § 50-18-71.
